How To Draw A Tomato – A Step by Step Guide

1. Simple Tomato Drawing

Step 1: Start by drawing a slightly flattened circle or oval shape. Tomatoes are typically round but have a subtle curve at the top, so make sure the shape is not a perfect circle but slightly more rounded at the top.

At the top of the tomato, draw a small, slightly irregular curve or an indentation where the stem would be attached. It should look like a little dip in the top edge of the tomato.

Step 2: From the indentation at the top, draw a short, curved line for the stem.

You can make it a little wobbly to give it a natural look.

Step 3: Next, draw a couple of small leaves emerging from the base of the stem. These should be pointy or oval-shaped.

Step 4: To make the tomato look more realistic, add a few light, curved lines along the surface of the tomato to show the natural grooves.

Step 5: Now it’s time to add color! Use a red color for the body of the tomato.

Color the stem with a brown or dark green color, and use a bright green for the leaves.

Step 2: Draw two big eyes on the front. You can make them big circles with smaller circles inside to create a “shine” effect.

Then, add a small curved line underneath the eyes to form a happy smile.

Step 3: At the top , draw a small curved line for the stem. You can make it slightly thick, but keep it short and cute!

Around the base of the stem, draw a few small leaves. You can make them simple—just pointy shapes with slightly curved edges.

3. Sliced Tomato Drawing

Step 1: Draw two nested ovals to indicate the slice tomato as shown the picture.

Step 2: At the top of the whole tomato, draw a small stem and a couple of leaves. The leaves can be simple pointy shapes that curve slightly.

Step 3: Inside the sliced half, draw small oval shapes to represent the seeds. You can cluster them together in groups to make it look more realistic.

Around the seeds, draw the fleshy part of the tomato. This can be done by creating a wavy line that follows the contour of the seeds, giving it a juicy appearance.

Step 4: Coloring

You can shade the seeds lightly and add some highlights to the flesh to give it a shiny, fresh look.

Now your sliced tomato drawing is complete! You can color it in with red for the flesh, yellow or white for the seeds, and green for the leaves and stem.

Now you know how to draw a tomato with three style!

Drawing a convincing tomato requires observing its unique features, like the stem and slight irregularities in its surface.

By layering colors and textures thoughtfully, your illustration will appear lifelike.

Happy drawing!
